Product Description
Waterfall box, no media or filter included This waterfall box has its connection to hoses on the back and not visible in the photograph. Provided are the gaskets and connector, which permit connecting one of several hose sizes to it. The 2000 in its name is its Gallons per Hour rating. It makes for a good looking waterfall connected to a 1500 GPH pump; well at least better than the homemade waterfall it replaced. Within the instructions is a warning that in cold winter areas, where things freeze, this waterfall box and the hose connected to it need to be dry, which in my case will mean storing it away during the winter.
The instructions state that it is strong enough to be buried, and support a covering rock. I choose to neither bury it or put weight on it. I did not want to dig it out before winter, and looking at it, my opinion is that the rock would need to be very light, such as a flagstone, maybe. Instead, I set rocks around it, that support the heavier rock covering it.
The instructions also indicate that there are multiple variations of this waterfall box available, some rated for 1000 GPH, and others that include filtering materials.
Next year, when I put it back in service, I am going to put a little gravel under it, so as to make it easier to level.
This review is from: Danner 02467 Pro2000 Pond Waterfall Box (Lawn & Patio)
This does a wonderful job with a 1500 gph pump and would likely work quite well with a slightly smaller pump. I had read somewhere that it takes about 150 gph per inch of waterfall for a good waterfall and this one at 11+ inches proves that rule-of-thumb. I have a very slight drip where the gasket joins the back of the box but, hey, this is a water feature and the little drip won't harm a thing. The fitting at the back of the box accommodates 4 sizes of hose so it'll likely work for you no matter what kind of pump you're using. It was a great price at about $40 delivered.
